Joe Cummings

 

Joe Cummings was born in New Orleans, and raised in California, France and Washington, DC. An interest in Buddhism drew him to Thailand, where he taught English at King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology before returning to the US for a master’s degree in South Asian Civilization at the University of California at Berkeley. His Lonely Planet Thailand guide (1982) remains one of the bestselling guidebooks published. He is editor-at-large at Bangkok 101 magazine, and a regular contributor to Travel + Leisure and other publications. He will moderate Dacre Stoker’s talk The Mysteries behind writing Dracula, and give a workshop entified Become a travel writer or blogger.
